I’m back to talk more about The Roadmap to Literacy, a popular book for Waldorf teachers that claims to explain how to utilize the science of reading in a Waldorf context. Last time, I dove into what I view as the biggest problem with this book, which is that it advocates a strange compromise between proven reading instructional methods and disproven ones, that for some reason is to START with the disproven (and for some kids, harmful) methods and only when they are “developmentally ready” are we to give them real high quality literacy instruction.
